Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Armor is something that's put on before the battle. So, thinking ahead to troubles I know I will face during the day, I can ask for the foreknowledge of how to better react in the challenging situation. I can make my decision when I'm strong, and be ready to execute it, instaead of having to decide on the fly when I may not be at my best.
