Sin is the act of choosing a short term goal that is in opposition to your long-term righteous goals. One that delays or even actually impedes your progress.
It is a goal, because you are trying to achieve one of Satan's counterfeits of happiness, or peace, or joy, or satisfaction, or contentment, or belonging, or love.
