Daily Ponderings: Quench Not the Spirit

1 Thessalonians 5:19
Quench not the Spirit.

I should invite the Spirit freely and without resistance or impediment

I can set myself aside and let the Spirit flow through me unimpeded. This will not wash me away and make me less, it will infuse me and make me more.

Daily Ponderings: Be Patient Toward All Men

1 Thessalonians 5:14
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

I should seek peace, which is the essential root of patience.

I can make peace my habit, and patience follows, because it is just peace, repeated.

Patience = the choice of either a small reward in the short-term, or a more valuable reward in the long-term.

Daily Ponderings: We Should Live Together With Him

1 Thessalonians 5:10
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

I should try to walk closer to His way, and be thankful for His atonement that allows me to try again when I notice myself drifting, without the need to waste time with self-inflicted penance.

I can seek His peace 100 times a day without penalty; I am entitled to this by my covenants.

Strength and Wisdom

From Russell M. Nelson's October 2016 "Stand as True Millenials":
"...the Lord will bless you with strength and wisdom to accomplish the impossible"

He provides the power, I provide the strength and wisdom that comes through me.

Daily Ponderings: Sorrow Not

1 Thessalonians 4:13
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

I should find things to be cheerful about

I can feel cheerful, and I can begin from a position of peace

With practice, I will be ablt to go straight to cheerful

How He Feels

From Russell M. Nelson's October 2016 "Stand as True Millenials":
"Ask your Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ how He feels about you and your mission here on earth"

He said "supportive"

Covenant Keeping

Like marriage, "being His" requires a "do whatever it takes" attitude to make it work.

This includes doing unpleasant, uncomfortable, and inconvenient things, while counting them all blessings; knowing that there are pleasant, comfortable, and convenient things that will outweigh them.

What Is God's Love Language?

I'm guessing:

Words of afffirmation
Acts of service
Quality time

Daily Ponderings: Unto Holiness

1 Thessalonians 4:7
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

I should lift my gaze to view the ways I can become more like Him.

I can start with His peace, and then go purposefully where I need to go.

Daily Ponderings: Your Hearts Blameless in Holiness

1 Thessalonians 3:13
To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

I should desire the things of God

I can make wanting the things of God a habit

Daily Ponderings: Out of Weakness, He Shall Be Made Strong

2 Nephi 3:13
And out of weakness he shall be made strong, in that day when my work shall commence among all my people, unto the restoring thee, O house of Israel, saith the Lord.

I should trust in His ability to strengthen me

I can be made strong, no matter my weakness

Daily Ponderings: What Thanks Can We Render to God

1 Thessalonians 3:9
For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

I should be aware of the good things in my life

I can notice and focus on the good things in my life and be thankful for them
