Not Better, But Different

From Robert L. Backman's October 1980 "To the Young Men of the Church"
"...you are different from other boys and young men - not better but different - because you have been blessed with the gospel of Jesus Christ and the priesthood of God. Because he has given you so much, he expects you to live beyond your friends and associates who do not have the light of the gospel..."

This also implies that everyone is also "not worse, but different"

Still, it doesn't obviate the questions "better for what? worse by what standard? And is that standard appropriate?"
