Pride, Arrogance, Humility

Pride = the feeling that I - or the loved one in whom I invested effort - have had my hard work justly rewarded.

Arrogance = the unwillingness to change in the face of a clearly superior alternative, to avoid having to admit I was wrong.

Humility = the willingness to change in the face of a clearly superior alternative.

Pride is good until and unless it hits the point of "...and that makes me better than you"; instead of "everyone has something to be proud of, and those somethings are all different, and they're all good, because they all recognize and admire the principle of justice.
