3 Nephi 8:9

And the city of Moroni did sink into the depths of the sea, and the inhabitants thereof were drowned.

If I'm sinking, I can reach out to Him for help

This I Know: Rest

The rest I get can be enough.

Daily Ponderings: Baptized Unto Repentance

3 Nephi 7:26

And there were many in the commencement of this year that were baptized unto repentance; and thus the more part of the year did pass away.

I can become better if I'm willing to give up my fear. He can replace it with His peace if I ask.

The Atonement Frees Me

Gratitude (the root of joy) - for the gift of His atonement.

Forgive myself - it's ok because I asked and He forgave me. He forgave me because it's already paid for

Daily repentence is important, because otherwise my accumulated mistakes can become my identity instead of just my actions.

This I Know: Grateful

I can appreciate the good things in my life, large and small.

Daily Ponderings: Minister With Power

3 Nephi

And he did minister many things unto them; and all of them cannot be written, and a part of them would not suffice, therefore they are not written in this book. And Nephi did minister with power and with great authority.

My ministering should make other people's lives better.

This I Know: Willingness

Sometimes being willing brings its own miracles.

Daily Ponderings: Gather Themselves Together

3 Nephi 7:9

Now this secret combination, which had brought so great iniquity upon the people, did gather themselves together, and did place at their head a man whom they did call Jacob;

I can do great things when I ask for help.

This I Know: Paid For

Everything's paid for. I just need to be willing to say "thank you" and accept the gift.

Daily Ponderings: Be at Liberty

3 Nephi 6:30

And they did set at defiance the law and the rights of their country; and they did covenant one with another to destroy the governor, and to establish a king over the land, that the land should no more be at liberty but should be subject unto kings.

I should live to ever increase my liberty

Giving Others Joy

This isn't about altruism, this is about psychological visibility and self-efficacy.

Opposition in all things

Sensing nerves - pressure, temperature, smell, taste - get flooded then have to reset before they're sensitive again. The survival factor is that it's good for your body to be sensitive to change, because change is more dangerous than steady state.

Drop My Burden

From Hymn 125 "How Gentle God's Commands":

""I'll drop my burdern at His feet and bear a song away.""

To sacrifice means to put my fear, sadness, and anger on the altar and carry away peace. Sometimes it's a hard swap to make.

This I Know: Sleep

I can return to sleep by asking for peace.

Daily Ponderings: Set at Defiance

3 Nephi 6:30

And they did set at defiance the law and the rights of their country; and they did covenant one with another to destroy the governor, and to establish a king over the land, that the land should no more be at liberty but should be subject unto kings.

Defiance is given to me for a righteous purpose - to oppose the whisperings of the adversary.

3 Nephi 6:21

Now there were many of the people who were exceedingly angry because of those who testified of these things; and those who were angry were chiefly the chief judges, and they who had been high priests and lawyers; yea, all those who were lawyers were angry with those who testified of these things.

It's good to say what I feel as kindly as I can.

3 Nephi 6:13

Some were lifted up in pride, and others were exceedingly humble; some did return railing for railing, while others would receive railing and persecution and all manner of afflictions, and would not turn and revile again, but were humble and penitent before God.

I can always choose His peace.

For there were many merchants in the land, and also many lawyers, and many officers.

I always have a choice. I'm not being put upon, I'm choosing to take care of my home and my family

I can have peace in any moment. Any. Every moment is better with peace. Every.

This I Know: Slow Down

The cause of all anxiety is the urge to rush when there is no deadline. I can always breathe, slow down, and still myself.

I can see what I see and know what I know.

This I Know: Going Through the Motions

Even if going through the motions doesn't help me make progress, it at least helps me keep from losing ground.

I should see things accurately. He can help clear my spiritual vision if I ask for help.

This I Know: Moving

Moving helps make things easier.

Daily Ponderings: The Great Goodness of God in Delivering Them

3 Nephi 4:33

And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction.

I can be delivered from any darkness if I ask Him for help

This I Know: Retry

If I am having a bad day, I can choose at any moment to try to have a good day. Every moment is salvagable. I never have to stay where I am.

Daily Ponderings: Withdraw Themselves from the Siege and March

3 Nephi 4:23

And it came to pass that Zemnarihah did give command unto his people that they should withdraw themselves from the siege, and march into the furthermost parts of the land northward.

Action is usually the best course. He can help me know what to do.

This I Know: Asking

Asking is the best way to get what I want.

Daily Ponderings: The Nephites Did Beat Them

3 Nephi 4:12

And notwithstanding the threatenings and the oaths which Giddianhi had made, behold, the Nephites did beat them, insomuch that they did fall back from before them.

I can defeat the Litany of whisperings from the adversary by seeking His peace.

As Easy As Possible

From James Clear:

"Take whatever you are trying to accomplish and ask, "How could this be as easy as possible?"

How could I make meditating each day as easy possible? How could I make showing appreciation to my partner as easy as possible? How could I make finding great investment opportunities as easy as possible? And so on.

You may be surprised how effective the easy version can be."

This I Know: Promptings

Following promptings makes things better. Not perfect. Better.

3 Nephi 3:26

And they were exceedingly sorrowful because of their enemies. And Gidgiddoni did cause that they should make weapons of war of every kind, and they should be strong with armor, and with shields, and with bucklers, after the manner of his instruction.

He can fortify me with His peace

This I Know: Quiet

In the quiet of the morning, I can find peace.

Daily Ponderings: Did Appoint Chief Captains

3 Nephi 3:17

And it came to pass that Lachoneus did appoint chief captains over all the armies of the Nephites, to command them at the time that the robbers should come down out of the wilderness against them.

I should choose people to help me accomplish needful things.

This I Know: Strength

I have a lot to do. I can ask for the strength to do it

Daily Ponderings: The Works Thereof I Know to Be Good

3 Nephi 3:9

And behold, I am Giddianhi; and I am the governor of this the secret society of Gadianton; which society and the works thereof I know to be good; and they are of ancient date and they have been handed down unto us.

I should do things which are good. The Holy Ghost can prompt me to know which thing to do next, if I ask. Sometimes even if I just wonder.

Daily Ponderings: A State of Many Afflictions

3 Nephi 2:19

And thus ended the fifteenth year, and thus were the people in a state of many afflictions; and the sword of destruction did hang over them, insomuch that they were about to be smitten down by it, and this because of their iniquity.

Even in a state of many afflictions, He can help me remain focused on peace and joy.

This I Know: Listening

I can be guided, and I can be grateful after.

Daily Ponderings: Threatened With

3 Nephi 2:13

And it came to pass that before this thirteenth year had passed away the Nephites were threatened with utter destruction because of this war, which had become exceedingly sore.

The future is not set. I always have time to change it for the better. He can help me know how.

This I Know: Peace

Peace is possible if I ask for it. I should ask for it anytime I notice it's absence.

Daily Ponderings: Christ Should Come into the World

3 Nephi 2:7

And nine years had passed away from the time when the sign was given, which was spoken of by the prophets, that Christ should come into the world.

I can let His peace come into my world. I still struggle with remembering that peace is the best thing to feel in ALL circumstances.

And thus were the Lamanites afflicted also, and began to decrease as to their faith and righteousness, because of the wickedness of the rising generation.

I should hold my faith and righteousness as precious, and do whatever it takes to keep them strong.

I can ask for help to know how to heal my body.

And it came to pass also that a new star did appear, according to the word.

I should listen to the things He tells me.

I can receive promptings if I keep my mind open.

Daily Ponderings: Cried Mightily to His God

3 Nephi 1:11

And it came to pass that he went out and bowed himself down upon the earth, and cried mightily to his God in behalf of his people, yea, those who were about to be destroyed because of their faith in the tradition of their fathers.

I can ask for what I want more than once.

This I Know: Persistence

I can get what I desire if I keep myself in a circumstance that allows it to happen.

I should write down things which are true.

I am able to carry stillness within me, even amidst tumult.

Some things they may have guessed right, among so many; but behold, we know that all these great and marvelous works cannot come to pass, of which has been spoken.

I should avoid "we know" if "I believe" can be more useful to me.

And thus ended the eighty and sixth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.

I should choose carefully who I get my ideas from

This I Know: Offer

Sometimes I need to offer things to other people.

Daily Ponderings: Observe to Do His Will

Helaman 15:17

And now behold, saith the Lord, concerning the people of the Nephites: If they will not repent, and observe to do my will, I will utterly destroy them, saith the Lord, because of their unbelief notwithstanding the many mighty works which I have done among them; and as surely as the Lord liveth shall these things be, saith the Lord.

I should observe to do His will.

This I Know: Sacrifices

If I want to make progress, I have to be willing to give up fear, anger, and sadness. Which seems like it would be easy, but it's quite hard. There is odd comfort in their familiarity, distraction, and inertia.

Daily Ponderings: Knowledge of the Truth

Helaman 15:11

For behold, had the mighty works been shown unto them which have been shown unto you, yea, unto them who have dwindled in unbelief because of the traditions of their fathers, ye can see of yourselves that they never would again have dwindled in unbelief.

He can help me discern deep truth, what matters in the long run.

This I Know: Follow the Plan

I can follow through on the plans I'm given

Daily Ponderings: Unwearied Diligence

Helaman 15:6

Yea, I say unto you, that the more part of them are doing this, and they are striving with unwearied diligence that they may bring the remainder of their brethren to the knowledge of the truth; therefore there are many who do add to their numbers daily.

I should strive with unwearied diligence. He can help me find strength and peace as I do so.

Daily Ponderings: Ye Can Do Good

Helaman 14:31

He hath given unto you that ye might know good from evil, and he hath given unto you that ye might choose life or death; and ye can do good and be restored unto that which is good, or have that which is good restored unto you; or ye can do evil, and have that which is evil restored unto you.

He will give me the strength to do good if I ask.

This I Know: Enough

It's enough to follow promptings

Daily Ponderings: The Rocks Which Are Upon the Face of the Earth

Helaman 14:21

Yea, at the time that he shall yield up the ghost there shall be thunderings and lightnings for the space of many hours, and the earth shall shake and tremble; and the rocks which are upon the face of this earth, which are both above the earth and beneath, which ye know at this time are solid, or the more part of it is one solid mass, shall be broken up;

I should become a rock on the face of this earth. He can help me if I ask.

This I Know: Calm

If I stay calm, things will work out.

Daily Ponderings: Ye Might Hear and Know

Helaman 14:11

And ye shall hear my words, for, for this intent have I come up upon the walls of this city, that ye might hear and know of the judgments of God which do await you because of your iniquities, and also that ye might know the conditions of repentance;

If I ask and listen, He will tell me what to do. If I do it, I will be happy.

This I Know: Preparation

I can find the time I need for preparation.
