Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
I should remember the power of my heritage
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
I should remember the power of my heritage
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
I should strive to be kind to others and myself
I can be kind
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
I should stick with the light that I have
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
I should look for the light in my own life and spread it to others.
"And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious"
Gratitude contaings within it the power to transform.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
I should read His word and do what I feel inspired to do because of it.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
I should do things that bring light to others
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
I should look for the light at all times.
"...being in the Lord's house can help us to be differenct from the world in order to make more difference in the world"
"Keeping a temple covenant is not constraining but enabling. It elevates us beyond limits of our own perspective and power. It is like the difference between plodding through a muddy field and soaring through the skies in a supersonic jet."
I can get a lot farther with His power assisting my power than I can on my power alone.
"A covenant made with God should be regarded not as restrictive but as protective. Covenants with Him protect us from danger."
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
Writing allows Him to speak to me.
"Even though we will still make mistakes, we show our love for Him by striving through the power of Christ's atonement to keep His commandments and avoid sin."
Like in driving. We make mistakes all the time.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
His transforming power is always available to me if I ask for it
"I know what to do because I know who I want to be"
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
I should look for and find the blessings in my life that He promised me
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
He that created me, loves me. And will grant unto me all that I need and ask for.
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
I should remember and recite to myself empowering truths.
"...our responsibility is to learn what we should learn..."
How do I know what I need to learn? Ask. And listen. Then do.
"When I had to make a decision whether or not an activity was appropriate for the Sabbath, I simply asked myself, 'What sign do I want to give to God?'"
This question works for any activity I'm considering on any day of the week
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
I should notice the blessings I receive for asking for the things I want
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
I should seek to fill my soul with kindness and peace
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
I can remember to ask Him for peace whenever I feel troubled
"...pray to God with faith, sincerity, and real intent (with a commitment to act upon the answers received)
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I should remember Him and remember that He is always available to help me find peace
Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
I can have peace when I ask Him to help me.
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
I know who I am. I know why I'm here. He will help me to progress.
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
I should look for ways I can change and improve
Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
I should be kind at all times, to others, to Him, to myself
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
I should find something to be glad about several times a day
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
I should pray unhesitatingly for the things I satnd in need of, and pray gratefully for the things I have received, showing kindness to Him.
Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
As I hear and follow the promptings I receive, I can find the peace and happiness I was sent to earth to have.
"We must not pick and choose which commandments we think are important to keep but acknowledge all of God's commandments"
Including personal ones, especially the promptings that come in response to the questions I ask in prayer.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
I have a lot of power. I should always keep it under control and react with kindness.
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
In all interactions with others, be kind.
"[balancing between our many chores and the Lord's work] requires both SACRIFICE and CONSECRATION"
No, it requires a conversation. When I feel conflicted between doing chores and serving Him, I can tell Him my feelings, let Him listen, and await a response. I can try to do my part.
Sometimes I don't want to, and if I can just make myself ask for His peace, that mere act of "turning toward" will preserve me.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Any time I feel a little off track, I can pray for peace, and He will bring me back.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
I should listen for what He wants me to do, and then ask for His help to do it.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
I should remember to be kind
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
I should act in a way that would make my Father proud. Kindly. Always kindly.
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
The Gospel consists of things which are unchangeably true. One of those is that I can feel His peace whenever I ask for it. And His peace is foundational to receiving all the other blessings He has to offer, like kindness and power and laughter.
